TRX-4 Sport Tire Size: What Fits Without Rubbing?
“Fits a 1/10 crawler” is not enough information. Tire fitment depends on the complete combination of tire, insert, wheel, offset, body, bumper, steering setup, suspension travel, and existing modifications.
Start with actual measurements
Published tire dimensions are useful, but molded rubber can vary and mounted dimensions change with the insert and wheel. Record the actual outside diameter and width of the mounted setup when possible.
Check at full steering lock
Turn the steering fully in both directions and cycle the suspension. Look for contact with links, portals, shocks, body edges, inner fenders, bumpers, and accessories. A tire may clear while the truck is level but rub when one side is compressed.
Wheel offset changes the problem
Moving the tire outward can increase inner clearance but may increase scrub, widen the truck, expose the tire beyond the body, and change load on steering components. Moving inward can create link or portal interference. Evaluate the wheel and tire as one system.
Body rub is not only cosmetic
Light contact at an extreme angle may be acceptable to one driver and unacceptable to another. Repeated rubbing can damage the body, restrict steering or suspension, and hide an incompatible setup. Product notes should state where and when contact occurred.
Larger tires change gearing load
A larger effective diameter travels farther per rotation and can increase load on the motor, servo, drivetrain, and brakes on descents. Watch temperatures and driving behavior after a significant size change.

- Body and bumper clearance at full articulation
- Any lift, shock, link, axle, or steering modifications
